NARS introduces Statistical Briefings, a new type of a report, which looks into statistics and indicators related to legislation and policy issues to evaluate their legislative implications.

On August 1, NARS released its first issue of Statistical Briefings, which focuses on the 'Current Status and Implications of Consumer Spending Indicators.' This report argues that structural factors-i.e., fall of household income, disposable income, and wealth effect-explain the sluggish consumer spending after the global financial crisis. To stimulate consumer spending over the long term, the report suggests creating more quality jobs and environment to earn more income, inter alia.

NARS plans to publish Statistical Briefings irregularly twice a month. To download the report please visits our website (http://www.nars.go.kr/eng/index.do).
