On Monday, May 20 (4:00 pm), the National Assembly Research Service (NARS) held a meeting on the volunteer system with eight Chinese delegates, including Mr. Shen Deyong, Chairman of the Social and Legal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Kim Ha-joong, Chief of NARS, greeted the delegation and said, "I hope Chairman Shen Deyong's visit will provide an opportunity for both agencies to advance to a new level by deepening mutual understanding between Korea and China and promoting exchanges and cooperation." In response, Chairman Shen Deyong responded positively to the suggestion of promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two agencies.

Following the introduction of NARS by Hwang Sun-ho, director of NARS Planning and Cooperation Division, Park Young-won, director of NARS Security and Public Administration Team announced ‘the Status and Performance of Korea's Volunteer Laws and Systems (ACT on Volunteer Service Activities)’. The announcement was followed by brisk Q&A and dialogue between the two agencies.

Through the meeting, NARS and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will strengthen exchanges and cooperation by expanding mutual understanding of the two agencies as well as the two countries' volunteer laws and systems.
