NARS NEWS: NARS Co-hosts with Congressmen's Offices a Seminar on 'The Current Status of Energy and Regional Cooperation in Northeast Asia and Its Prospects'
 The National Assembly Research Service (NARS) held a joint symposium with the Korean Civil Law Society at the National Assembly Research Service on October 19, 2018.

Lee Nae-young, Chief of NARS, gave welcoming remarks. Opening remarks were delivered by Lee Jun-young, President of the Korean Civil Law Society. Yeo Sang-kyoo, Chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, delivered congratulatory remarks in absentia due to the proceedings of the national legislative inspection.

The joint symposium saw presentations from Jee Won-lim (Professor at Korea University) on 'General Provisions of the Civil Law'; Kim Hyoung-seok (Professor at Seoul National University) on real right; and Eom Dong-sup (Professor at Sogang University) on legal claims. Park Jun-mo (Attorney at NARS Legislation and Judiciary Team), Park Dong-jin (Professor at Yonsei University), Chang Byeong-jun (Professor at Daegu University), Seo Eul-oh (Professor at Ewha Womans University), Kim Young-doo (Professor at Chungnam National University), Kim Sang-joong (Professor at Korea University), Chung Gu-tae (Professor at Chosun University), and We Kye-chan (Professor at Hanyang University) participated in follow-up discussions.

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Civil Law Enactment this year, participants recognized the need for general and systematical amendment of the Civil Law. In that regard, participants actively discussed the basic principle that provides guidelines to Civil Law Amendment, as well as theoretical and practical methodologies for efficient amendment and the areas that are in need of urgent amendment in each sector of Property Law.
