 On Tuesday, August 28, the National Assembly Research Service, together with the Children and Women's Rights Forum of the National Assembly(Co-representative members Jung Choun-sook, Kim Sam-hwa, and Kwon Mi-hyuk), National Youth Policy Institute(President Song Byeong-kug), Korean Women Lawyers Association(President Cho Hyun-wook), Duroo(Managing Director Kim Ji-hyung), YWCA Korea(President Han Young-soo), ECPAT Korea TACTEEN(Managing Director Choi Young-hee), and Stand Up Against Sex-Trafficking of Minors(Cho Jin-kyeong) jointly held an international seminar on "Legislative Strategies for Protecting Child and Youth Victims of Sexual Exploitation," sponsored by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea.

This international seminar was held to discuss revision of the guideline of the Acton the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sex Offenses. Participants shared information on advanced European policies that cover punishment of sex purchasers and protection of children and youth from sexual exploitation.

Kang Ji-won(Lawyer, Managing Director at the Purme Foundation) moderated the country reports session, which examined international cases in the European Union, Sweden, the UK, and Korea.

Joelle Hivonnet, Head of the Political Section of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, introduced various EU cases. Presentations on Swedish, British, and Korean cases were delivered by Per-Anders Sunesson, the Swedish Ambassador at Large for Combating Trafficking in Persons; Sarah Champion, Labor MP at the UK Parliament; and Cho Jin-kyeong, President at Stand Up Against Sex-Trafficking of Minors, respectively.

These presentations were followed by in-depth discussion among Kim Hyun-a (Lawyer at Korean Women Lawyers Association), Kim Ji-yeon (Senior Research Fellow at National Youth Policy Institute), Kang Jung-eun(Lawyer at Duroo), An Su-kyoung (President at YWCA Korea Y-Teen Committee), Lee Hyun-suk(President at ECPAT Korea TACTEEN), Cho Joo-eun (Legislative Researcher at NARS), and experts from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Ministry of Justice.
