On February 4, in the NARS Main Conference Hall, Dr. Lim Seong-ho (Chief of NARS) hosted the organization's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct declaration ceremony.
Accommodating the nation's high expectation level of public service and considering the distinctive role of NARS as both a legislative branch agency and think tank within the National Assembly, the necessity to strengthen ethical values and principles was raised. Soon after, the Code of Ethics, the Code of Conduct, and the Code of Conduct Q&A were drawn up to provide a systematic way to govern the behavior of the individuals within the organization.
The NARS Code of Ethics consists of a total of 10 articles that reflects the institution's ethical values of integrity, nonpartisanship, consideration, and respect, inter alia. The Code of Conduct is a 29-article declaration that provides further details and behavior guidelines grounded on the Code of Ethics. Furthermore, the Code of Conduct Q&A is a collection of case examples that acts as reference point to successfully adhere to the Code of Ethics.
The declaration ceremony began with congratulatory remarks from Speaker Chung Ui-hwa and Secretary-General Park Hyung-joon. A reciting of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct by four members representing the diverse members of NARS followed after an opening address and congratulatory remarks.
