On January 13, Dr. Lim Seong-ho (Chief of the National Assembly Research Service) gave NARS's policy briefing 2015 to Speaker Chung Ui-hwa. The briefing was focused on 'Strengthening Key Functions' and 'Building a Foundation for Reinforcing Professionalism'.
During the briefing, Dr. Lim pledged to improve the professionalism and timeliness of legislative requests, conduct distinguishing research as a legislative think-tank, expand more space for social discourse, and strengthen NARS's key functions. Dr. Lim also laid out plans for building a foundation for reunification, carrying out studies for political reform, and holding a monthly seminar on character education.
Based on internal evaluation, NARS also designed strategies for mid - and long - term development of the institution. Three key pillars of the strategies are strengthening key functions, increasing staff members' capabilities, and further promoting cooperation at home and abroad.
Briefed about NARS's plan, Speaker Chung Ui-hwa requested that "The National Assembly should work solely for the people" and "Think 'people first' and see things from the people's point of view."
