While Yunjung-ro, the cherry blossom tree-lined street behind the National Assembly in Yeouido, was crowded with people out for a walk, the National Assembly Research Service staff visited Areumdri Community Child Center. Areumdri Community Child Care Center located in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, is an institute serving local elementary school students mostly from multicultural and/or underprivileged families. NARS staff first met with the center's children when they were invited to a dinner at the National Assembly. It was the first time for the children to venture around the National Assembly buildings and to learn about what lawmakers do. Like all children on a field trip, they seemed quite excitable and zany at first; but our staff members soon came to see just how kind and sweet these children truly are.

NARS researchers visit the center every Thursday to help the children with their homework, and often go skating together with them or do other outdoor activities. NARS will continue its work to help the children and families of the child care center.
