On October 8, 2013, a meeting for the 'National Assembly Research Service Mid- and Long-Term Strategy Task Force' was held in the NARS main conference hall. The task force was launched last February to design feasible and detailed plans for the development of NARS. Members of the task force had been working for the last 5 months leading up to the meeting, where they finally came together to discuss their conclusions.

The meeting was moderated by Choi Sun-young, the director of the planning and cooperation division. Dr. Koh Hyun-wook, Chief of NARS, opened the meeting with some remarks, which were followed by a presentation on activity reports. Lee In-seob, Director of the Society and Culture Research Office, and three other officials shared their opinions on strategy for the development. Active discussions among the meeting's participants subsequently followed.

Manpower was recognized as a key issue, with participants sharing the opinion that while the processing of research requests and other work of NARS has increased over the years, more staff would be needed to efficiently and effectively carry out these tasks. Hence it was concluded that a new staffing plan and work process improvement would be needed.

At the meeting Dr. Koh complimented the members on their meaningful accomplishments, which have helped to foster a common bond among them. Despite the many limitations, the members of the task force remain optimistic and future-oriented, recommending that a specific action plan be put in place.
