On Friday, March 12, National Assembly Research Service (NARS) held a ‘NARS Organizational Diagnosis Committee Appointment Ceremony’ at seminar room #430. NARS Organizational Diagnosis Committee was launched by NARS to seek mid- and long-term improvement plans as it celebrates its 14th anniversary this year. Ten leading experts on parliament and legislation were appointed to the committee.
Dr. Kim Man-heum, Chief of NARS, gave welcome remarks to kick off the appointment ceremony, which was followed by introduction of committee members, election of the chairperson, and awarding of a letter of appointment to each member. After the ceremony, Kim Eui-young (Professor, Seoul National University) moderated the 1st meeting of the organizational diagnosis committee.
Including Chairperson Kim Eui-young (Professor, Seoul National University), the committee comprises 10 members: Kim Meen-geon (Professor, Kyung Hee University), Kim Young-il (Professor, Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials), Ryoo Jaewoo (Professor, Kookmin University), Park Soonae (Professor, Seoul National University), Seo Bok-kyung (CEO, Possibility Research Institute), Won Jong-hyun (Chairman, National Pension Service Trustees Committee), Lee Inyong (Senior Advisor, Kim & Chang Law Firm), Rhee Jeong-cheol (Professor, Seoul National University), and Choi Jun-young (Professor, Inha University).
NARS Organizational Diagnosis Committee will be working for two months to assist NARS as it efficiently responds to the need for rapid growth of legislative support service, actively meets the challenges posed by comprehensive and specialized legislative issues, and effectively fulfills its role as the National Assembly’s comprehensive think tank.
Due to COVID-19, meetings will be held virtually (online) or via a non-contact document-sharing method. The committee will finish its term once the final report including organizational diagnosis and improvement measures is completed.
