NARS and the Bank of Korea Sign MOU to Research Income and Wealth Inequality

On Tuesday, August 12, the National Assembly Research Service (NARS, headed by Chief Lee Kwan-hoo) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bank of Korea (Governor Rhee Chang Yong) to promote joint academic research.

The MOU was initiated by NARS in response to the growing challenges of income and wealth inequality. It aims to facilitate effective legislative and policy research by enabling the two institutions to share relevant data and research outcomes and to advance joint academic studies.

Under the MOU, the NARS and the Bank of Korea will continue to exchange data and research findings on income and wealth inequality, co-host academic events to disseminate research outcomes, and work closely together to strengthen systematic academic cooperation. The MOU will remain in effect until August 11, 2027

At the signing ceremony, NARS Chief Lee Kwan-hoo stated, “As we face rapidly changing domestic and global environments, interdisciplinary research has become increasingly important. I look forward to continued active exchanges with the Bank of Korea, which is experimenting with diverse research methods.” BOK Governor Rhee responded, “To address the complex challenges confronting our nation, cross-disciplinary research is essential. I hope that academic cooperation between our two institutions will flourish in support of legislative policy research.”
