NARS Publishes “2022 Policy Issues for Inspection”
On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the National Assembly Research Service (NARS) published the “2022 Policy Issues for Inspection,” a publication which has been issued since 2009. The report covers carefully selected political issues requiring intensive discussion during the 2022 Parliamentary Inspection of Government Departments and Agencies as well as their current status and ways to tackle the issues.

The report is divided into two parts: the 2022 Policy Data for the Parliamentary Inspection in Part 1, and Appraisal on the Correction Results after the 2021 Parliamentary Inspection in Part 2. A total of 632 issues are covered, respectively. The report is to be distributed in a separate set of books falling under each responsible Standing Committee.

Part 1 (Policy Data) contains analysis of 607 major issues requiring attention for the 2022 Parliamentary Inspection while Part 2 (Appraisal on the Correction Results) covers an in-depth evaluation of the government’s responses to 25 issues pointed out for improvements during the previous year’s inspection. Major issues of the Inspection are systematically sorted in accordance with the responsible Standing Committees and the Ministries in a total of nine books.

The Parliamentary Inspection will take place during a time of a prolonged Covid-19 pandemic and uncertain situations at home and abroad. It is also the first Parliamentary Inspection since the launch of the new administration and the newly formed lawmakers. Thus the NARS particularly made the report to cover significant and urgent subjects in all areas of state affairs in preparation for the Inspection.

The NARS is continually committed to not only conducting research and analysis but also professional and proactive legislative services so to ensure that the quality of legislature and policy will be enhanced.
