
On December 29, 2016 Chung Syekyun, Speaker of the National Assembly, appointed Dr. Lee Nae Young, Political Science Professor at Korea University, as the 6th Chief of National Assembly Research Service.
After being sworn in as the new Chief of NARS, Dr. Lee said "Building on the progress NARS has made regarding legislative research and studies, we will spare no effort in gearing up for a new phase of development as a top-tier research institution of the National Assembly. I will lead a united effort to make sure NARS plays a critical role in realizing an advanced National Assembly."
Dr. Lee graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Korea University and earned Ph.D. in Political Science from University of Wisconsin - Madison. Before joining the NARS Dr. Lee served as a professor at Korea University from 2001. His past positions include director of the Asiatic Research Institute Korea University, vice president of Advisory Council on Electoral Reform under the National Assembly Speaker, vice president of the Korean Association of International Studies, director of the Center for Public Opinion at the East Asia Institute, and director of Peace and Democracy Institute at Korea University.
