
On February 28th, the National Assembly Research Service (NARS) held its first Advisory Committee 2017 at the National Assembly VIP dining room.
Attending the meeting were Chairman Ahn Byeong-Ok (professor at Kongju University) and 18 other members along with 10 senior staff including Chief of NARS Dr. Lee Nae Young.
Twenty four members were newly appointed as NARS advisory members. Following the appointment ceremony, Park Jae-You, Director General of Planning and Management Office, delivered the 2017 New Year briefing, which was followed by comments and inquiries from the members.
Committee members offered in-depth comments to NARS, which covered a range of issues and proposals including how to provide more stable environment for legislative researchers and the need for legislative research agenda for decentralization and low-fertility rate.
In response, the chief of NARS said "It is significant for the National Assembly to restore its productivity to better prepare for Korea's future. I will make sure to reflect your advice and will endeavor to fulfill its responsibility as a research arm."
