On October 2, Dr. Lim Seong-ho (professor of political science at Kyung Hee University) was appointed by Speaker Chung Eui-hwa and approved by the House Steering Committee (Representative Lee Wan-koo) as the 5th Chief of the National Assembly Research Service.

In his inauguration speech, Dr. Lim promised to "prioritize three closely-interwoven tasks: providing policy research service to National Assembly members, developing a mid- and long-term legislative agenda, and cultivating a social atmosphere for mature public discourses." He also added that along with his staff he would do his best to "develop policy knowledge while maintaining academic non-partisanship, professionalism and interdependence."

Dr. Lim earned his Ph. D in Political Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MA (Politics) from Sogang University. He has been a professor in Political Science at Kyung Hee University since 1996. He has served on several committees including the Committee for Political Reform (Chairman), Citizen's Coalition for Economic Justice and Korean Association of Party Studies (President), the Advisory Committee for Political Reform affiliated to the Speaker of the National Assembly (member) and the Advisory Committee for Research Analysis of the National Assembly Research Service (member).
