On July 2, 2013, the National Assembly Research Service (NARS) held the 1st NARS Advisory Committee Conference in order to discuss NARS's current operational condition and the direction of its future developments.

The NARS Advisory Committee is composed primarily of key personnel who are highly respected for their intellect and reputation in their respective fields of policy research, government agency, and academia. Under this Advisory Committee sit three subcommittees: the Political Administration, Business and Industry Advisory, and Social Culture subcommittees. At the inaugural conference, Chairperson Jeong Jin Yong and 18 other Advisory Committee members attended while Park Gwang Sup, vice-president of Choong-Nam University, and three others were appointed as new committee members.

The conference began with a report on NARS's current status and each subcommittee's current work-in-progress, followed by feedback from the participants. Throughout the session, the Advisory Committee members actively participated in discussions, providing instructive comments based on their unique experiences and expertise. The members also closely examined NARS's current achievements and discussed future directions and plans.

At the conference, Dr. Koh Hyun Wook, Chief of NARS, commented that "It is time for NARS to improve its quality proportionate to its development in quantity over the past six years. Therefore, we will thoroughly reflect on your expert opinions concerning NARS's current status and business operations, and will improve the research service based on today's important discussion.
