NARS Signs MOU with Korea Legislation Research Institute
On Wednesday, May 6 at the Seminar Room #2 (Rm 405), NARS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Kim Kye-hong) for mutual exchanges and cooperation.

The MOU was signed to enhance research and analysis capabilities and strengthen expertise in the legislative fields. As NARS—a comprehensive policy research institute and a think tank of the legislative branch which covers all subject areas of state affairs—and KLRI—the only government-funded research institute specializing in legislation in Korea—share common ground, the MOU represents a significant step towards further exchanges and cooperation.

Under the agreement, both agencies will work together on ① joint research on major issues and the holding of academic events, ② information exchanges such as publications and policy data, ③ human exchanges to strengthen expertise and enhance mutual understanding, and ④ other programs to enhance mutual exchanges and cooperation.

During the signing ceremony, Chief of NARS, Kim Ha-joong, mentioned that “The ways how KLRI conducts research on legislation and legislative policies and systematically collects and manages legislations at home and abroad share many things in common with how NARS analyzes current issues, identifies policy agenda, and carries out academic research,” and that “Particularly the legislative impact analysis of NARS and legislative evaluation of KLRI are both working toward the common goal of ‘Better Law Making.’” He also added that “I hope this MOU will ensure substantial and smooth exchanges between NARS and KLRI, and wish our institutions success in the upcoming joint conference to be held on July 22nd at the National Assembly.”
