On August 26, NARS hosted a 'Symposium on Environmental Issues and Agenda for the 20th National Assembly' at the National Assembly Members' Office Seminar Room No. 1.
Dr. Lim Seong-ho, Chief of NARS, opened the event with an opening address, which was followed by congratulatory remarks from Chair Hong Young-pyo (National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee), Deputy Minister Lee Jung-seob (Ministry of Environment), Researcher Park Gwang-guk (Korean Environment Institute), and President Kim Gwang-im (Korea Environmental Policy and Administration Society).
The symposium was organized into three sessions. The first session focused on "Reduction Measures for Fine Dust Particles." Presentations were given by Senior Research Fellow Kang Gwang-kyu (Korea Environment Institute), Professor Roh Sang-hwan (Kyungnam University), and Legislative Research Officer Choi Joon-young (NARS). Afterwards, Professor Yoo Kyung-seon (Kwangwoon University) and Director General Na Jung-kyun (Climate and Air Quality Bureau, Ministry of Environment) took part as panelists and led the discussions.
The second session on "Management System of Biocides" began with presentations each from President Lim Jong-han (The Korean Society of Environmental Health and Toxicology) and Senior Research Fellow Park Jung-kyu (Korea Environment Institute). It was then followed by comments from discussion panelists Dr. Park Sang-hee (CEO of Chemtopia), Legislative Research Officer Lee Hye-kyung (NARS), and Director General Lee Ho-jung (Environmental Health Bureau, Ministry of Environment).
The third and last session covered the topic "General Management of the Natural Environment" with presentations by Head Lee Hyun-woo (Environmental Policy Research Group, Korea Environment Institute) and Professor Cho Woo (Sangji University). Also, Researcher Song In-joo (The Seoul Institute), Assistant Legislative Researcher Lee Dong-young (NARS), and Director General Park Cheon-gyu (Nature Conservation Bureau) participated in the session's discussion.
Following the presentations and panel discussions, Director Park Chang-seok (Planning and Management Group, Korea Environment Institute) moderated an additional Q&A session, as well as a general discussion session.
