
On June 17, NARS held a 'talk concert' under the theme of "A New Era of Smart Media and Civic Virtue in Cyberspace."This seminar was the sixth such talk in the year-round Civic Virtue series.
The talk concert was held to discusssocial problems and adverse effects of the rapid expansion of 'smart media'. To address these problems participants conferred about civic consciousness in digital space.
At the seminar, Professor Hyun Dai-won(Department of Mass Communication, Sogang University) served as a moderator and Professor Bae-young (Department of Information Sociology, Soongsil University) opened up the event with his presentation. Professor Ha Ji-hyun (Konkuk University Medical School), columnist Park Kwon-il (Information Technology) and legislative researcher Kim Yoo-hyang (Science, Media and Telecommunications Team, National Assembly Research Service)took part in the seminar as panelists and had a fruitful discussion with the other participants.
While Speaker Chung Ui-hwa underscored the importance of preventive education for smart media-related problems, in his welcoming speech Chief of the NARS Dr. Lim Seong-ho highlighted the significance of building a healthy civic culture on the Internet.
