This study aims to derive improvement methods and identify influencing factors of successful regional festival hosted by local governments in Korea. Many of local government pursues their development by using local festival. The number of regional festivals hosted by local governments increasing rapidly for vitalizing regional economic and inheriting the traditional heritage after in the mid-90’s. Although the number of regional festival has been increasing， there are some regional festivals which characteristic is indistinctive， similar or duplicative. Those festivals are not receiving residents satisfaction. For this reason， some say regional festival which lose competitiveness should be merged. Others say evaluation system should be introduced for evaluating performance of regional festival objectively. Therefore， this study analyze influencing factors of successful regional festival hosted by local governments focused on Boryeong Mud Festival， Hampyeong Butterfly Festival and Hwacheon Mountain Trout Festival.
