On September 22, the National Assembly Research Service and the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Center of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) jointly hosted the 8th Civic Virtue Seminar on the topic of "Civic Virtue and Civic Awareness in the Age of Globalization" at the NARS main conference hall.
This seminar was held to discuss community awareness and human sense of self corresponding to the new era of rapid globalization as well as to diagnose its problems and solutions.
At the seminar, Professor Kim Hyun (Kyunghee University) served as a moderator and Professor Han Gyeong-gu (Seoul National University) opened up the event with his presentation. Professor Park Hong-soon (Sunmoon University), Researcher You Woong-jo (NARS) and Chief Um Jung-min (UNESCO APCEIU) took part in the seminar as panelists and had a fruitful discussion with the other participants.
Speaker Chung Ui-hwa underscored the importance of taking measures to strengthen civic virtue and civic awareness in the globalization era. In his welcoming speech, NARS Chief Dr. Lim Seong-ho highlighted the significance of building a new civic virtue and civic awareness in accordance with the changes of Korean society in the globalization era.
